How come purple isn't considered the coolest? Blue's in the middle. Red is considered the warmest, as it's on an edge. So is purple, so why isn't that the coolest? Favorite color of all hues, regardless of "-ary" word *or* temperature: green Favorite warm (and primary) color: red Anyway, based on purple being on the farthest edge of the "cool color" section and red being on that of the "warm color" section, I would consider colors like magenta, fuchsia, or any other purplish red a "freezer burn" color. As for yellowish green colors like chartreuse or spring green, I'd call *those* "room temperature" colors due to mixing the coolest warm, yellow, and the warmest cool, green, and room temperature is not warm *or* cool.

I see absolutely no reason to go through all of this.

sharp metal cane edges may harm the tiny humming bird. The feeder can not be cleaned.

I'm sorry, but these things are so absurd. You can buy a well-designed (easy to fill, easy to clean, easy for birds to use) feeder for next to nothing at x mart. Feeders like this are a grand waste of time and ultimately risk the welfare of the creatures they purport to serve due to their lack of design criteria. If you can't afford a couple bucks for a safe and useful feeder, how are you going to afford the sugar? Make a whirly-gig if you need a trashy project to occupy your spare time. Hummingbirds are living creatures; show them some respect.

How does the pressure head from all the nectar in the bottle not naturally push the nectar out of the holes when its just sitting there?

Here's an idea you can buy one at Walmart for about $4 bucks. I've had the same one for years I just keep it clean.

Clever but unfortunately the apoxy won't hold up in full sun very long. I suppose a shaded area is ideal. I did enjoy the talent and creativity.

For those concerned about cleaning... Replace the bottom part (two can bottoms) with a modestly sized glass jar (think 6 oz TJ's olive tapenade jar. Glue the bottle top (with hole) to the jar lid) with hole, and everything will come apart for easy and complete cleaning.

Most how-to-make-a-hummingbird-feeder-instuctions/videos stink. This does not stink. This is really good: I am very impressed. I want 6-8-10 hummingbird feeders and even at $6-$7-$8 each--which doesn't sound like much-- that can become... $80.
